FAPESP and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) announce the fifth call for proposals under the memorandum of understanding signed by the institutions.

The purpose is to select joint workshops, fostering the collaboration between young researchers from the State of São Paulo and from Japan and providing career development opportunities.

Two workshops in any field of knowledge will be funded, with a duration of three days, either in São Paulo State or in Japan, between September 1, 2018 and March 31, 2019.

Each proposal must have one co-coordinator on the Brazilian side and one co-coordinator on the Japanese side.

Co-coordinators from São Paulo must hold a full-time or equivalent position as a researcher at a higher education and/or research institution in the State and must satisfy Thematic Grants eligibility criteria (www.fapesp.br/en/13).

Co-coordinators from Japan must hold a full-time or equivalent position as a researcher at a university or research institution that is eligible to receive Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (KAKENHI).

Applicants on the Brazilian side must submit their proposals according to FAPESP’s guidelines under the “Auxílio Organização” funding scheme (www.fapesp.br/156).

The deadline for proposals submission is March 13, 2018, to FAPESP and JSPS.
