FAPESP and the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), from the United Kingdom, announce a new call for proposals to fund collaborative projects between researchers from the State of São Paulo and researchers from the UK.

The opportunity is part of an annual call to foster cooperation in the fields of Earth science, marine science, freshwater biology, archeology, polar and atmospheric sciences, and Earth observation, i.e., themes that integrates NERC’s areas of interest.

Supported activities may include, but are not limited to, programmes of exchange visits, scoping studies and workshops. The objective of The Global Partnerships Seedcorn Fund is to forge new partnerships between UK environmental science researchers and the best international researchers, in order to seed collaborations that will be sustained beyond the lifetime of the grant.

To FAPESP, proposals must be submitted by Principal or co-Principal Investigators of ongoing research projects funded by FAPESP within the following funding lines: Regular Research Awards; Thematic Projects; Young Investigators; Research, Innovation and Dissemination Centres (RIDCs); Public Education Improvement Research Program; Research in Public Policies; Research Partnership for Technological Innovation (PITE); and Engineering Research Centres (ERCs).

NERC has allocated £1.0M to this call, with a limit per proposal of £100,000 for UK costs. FAPESP will cover up to £30,000 for costs from the researcher based in the State of Sao Paulo.

A ‘Notification of Intent’ to apply must be submitted to NERC no later than 15 April. Full proposals should be submitted to FAPESP via SAGe and to NERC via Je-S no later than 9 May 2019.

The call for proposals is available at www.fapesp.br/en/12568
