  • Resumo Summary

    Duração: 12 meses, com possibilidade de prorrogação.
    Projeto CEPID: Centro de Desenvolvimento de Materiais Funcionais.

    Titânio e ligas à base de Ti são os materiais metálicos mais amplamente utilizados para implantes dentários e ortopédicos. Hoje, entende-se que a topografia da superfície em escala nano ou micrométrica, a química de superfície, a adsorção de proteínas, a formação de biofilmes e estrutura das camadas de superfície exterior do implante influenciam fortemente a interação de implantes com células e microrganismos.

    O objetivo geral da vaga é desenvolver uma nova geração de superfícies de base de Ti bio-multifuncional para implantes osseointegrados. Em especial, o objetivo é fazer avançar o conhecimento científico sobre diferentes técnicas de modificação de superfície, a fim de se obter superfícies biologicamente seletivas, promovendo simultaneamente uma adequada adesão de células osteoblásticas enquanto minimiza as possibilidades de colonização por microrganismos indesejados, juntamente com resistência a alta corrosão e tribocorrosão.

    Este projeto visa em primeiro lugar estudar e otimizar tratamentos de superfície para se obter superfícies com diferentes micro e nano-topografias e a funcionalização destas superfícies. Além disso, a imobilização de moléculas orgânicas e nanopartículas antimicrobianas também será estudada. Os candidatos devem demonstrar experiência em técnicas de funcionalização de superfícies e técnicas de caracterização com XPS, AFM e espectroscopia Raman.

    Os candidatos interessados devem entrar em contato com o Prof. Paulo Noronha Lisboa Filho (plisboa@fc.unesp.br), com os seguintes documentos:
    1) Carta de interesse para esta posição;
    2) CV resumido contendo grau acadêmico, publicações e documentos comprovando experiência na área;
    3) 2 (duas) cartas de recomendação.

    Period: 12 months with possibility of extension.
    CEPID Project: Center for the Development of Functional Materials.

    Titanium and Ti-based alloys are the most widely used metallic materials for dental and orthopaedic implants. Today, it is accepted that the surface topography at the nano-micro-scale, surface chemistry, adsorbed protein or salivary pellicle content, surface energy and structure of the outermost surface layers of the implant strongly influence the interaction of implants with cells and microorganisms.

    However, the interrelated influence of the different surface characteristics and of the biological activity on tribocorrosion mechanisms is still giving the first steps. The overall aim of this project is to develop a new generation of bio-multifunctional Ti-based surfaces for osseointegrated implants. In particular the goal is to advance the scientific knowledge on different surface modification techniques in order to obtain surfaces capable of being biologically selective (promoting, simultaneously, an adequate adhesion of osteoblastic cells while minimizing the possibilities of colonization by unwanted microorganisms), together with high corrosion and tribocorrosion resistance.

    This project will inter relate two complementary research activities. At first, surface treatments and sputtering techniques to obtain surfaces with different micro and nano-topographies, structures and chemistry (doping with bioactive and antimicrobial species). Further, immobilization of organic molecules and inorganic antimicrobial nanoparticles (TiO2 and ZnO) will be carried out by wet-chemical techniques.

    It is expected that the candidates exhibit experience in surface functionalization and surface characterization techniques (XPS, AFM and Raman spectroscopy).

    Interested candidates must send an e-mail to Prof. Paulo Noronha Lisboa Filho (plisboa@fc.unesp.br) with the following documents:
    1) Letter of interest for this position;
    2) Short CV containing academic degree, publications, and the documents showing expertise in the field;
    3) 2 (two) letters of recommendation.

    This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP's Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 6.819,30 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
