• Resumo Summary

  O Centro de Política e Economia do Setor Público – CEPESP da Fundação Getúlio Vargas – FGV está procurando candidatos (as) para duas vagas de pesquisador pós-doutorado para atuar em pesquisas (1) sobre padrões espaço-temporais em eleições proporcionais no Brasil e (2) sobre a formação de listas eleitorais.

  A primeira vaga tem por objetivo:

  - Identificar tipologias de padrões eleitorais a partir da análise da distribuição espaço-temporal de variáveis nas eleições proporcionais nos diferentes distritos eleitorais a partir da escala municipal;
  - Analisar de que maneira as diferentes tipologias eleitorais identificadas relacionam-se com variáveis políticas como presença nos municípios de estruturas partidárias (diretórios e comissões) e de gastos em diferentes setores (educação, saúde, etc.), bem como com o desempenho de partidos específicos em eleições locais;
  - Analisar as eleições locais (municipais) a partir das informações associadas aos locais de votação para municípios em regiões metropolitanas.

  A segunda vaga tem por objetivo compreender a formação das listas de candidatos às eleições proporcionais – quais atores interferem nesse processo, como as esferas local (municipal) e regional (estadual) dos partidos tomam parte desse jogo e quais os determinantes para as formações das coligações eleitorais em nível estadual. Ou dito de outra forma: o que leva os partidos que compõem uma coligação para governador concorrerem todos unidos em uma única coligação ou se subdividirem em várias coligações na disputa proporcional?

  Espera-se que o desenvolvimento dessa pesquisa conjugue habilidade para trabalhar com metodologias qualitativas e quantitativas, incluindo uma etnografia sobre o processo de formação de listas na eleição de 2018.

  Neste primeiro momento, a bolsa de pós-doutorado, que é concedida pela Fundação de Amparo à pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo – FAPESP, terá a duração de 9 meses, podendo ser renovada até o limite de 48 meses. O valor atual da bolsa está em R$ 7.174,80, livre de impostos.

  The Center of Politics and Economics of the Public Sector – CEPESP of the Getulio Vargas Foundation – FGV is seeking candidates for 2 postdoctoral positions to perform research on (1) an analysis of spatio-temporal patterns in proportional elections in Brazil and (2) an analysis of the process of formation of lists of candidates in Brazil elections. Both researches are associated with a general project entitled "The Subnational Political Institutions: A Comparative Study of the Brazilian States", funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation - FAPESP.

  Position (1) aims at:

  - Identifying typologies of electoral patterns from the analysis of the spatial-temporal distribution of variables in proportional elections in the different electoral districts from the municipal scale;
  - Analyzing how the different electoral typologies identified are related to political variables (municipal level organized-committees rather than temporary committees), expenditures in different sectors (education, health, etc.) and the performance of specific political parties in local elections;
  - Analyzing local (municipal) elections based on information associated with polling places for municipalities in metropolitan areas.

  The main goals of Position (2) are to understand the formation of lists of candidates for proportional elections – which actors interfere in this process, how the local (municipal) and regional (state) parties actors take part in this game, and what are the determinants for the formations of the state-level electoral coalitions. In other words: what drives the constitutional parties of a gubernatorial election coalition to compete all united in a single electoral coalition or to subdivide into several electoral coalitions in the proportional race?

  It is hoped that the development of this research will combine the ability to work with qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including an ethnography field conduct during the process of list building in the 2018 Brazliian General Election.

  The FAPESP post-doc fellowship runs for 9 consecutive months, with a monthly payment of R$7.174,80 Brazilian Reais / about US$ 2.100,00 (free of tax) and, it can be renewed until it reaches a total limit of 48 months. The selected candidates are expected to participate in the research activities of the thematic project, such as:

  - Conceptualize and carry out statistical analyses of cross-sectional and panel databases;
  - Prepare analytic/integrative summaries of findings;
  - Collaborate with the research team on analysis of findings;
  - Collaborate with the research team on write-up of findings for publications;
  - Prepare individual reports and manuscripts for publication;
  - Participate in conference presentations;
  - Participate in other collective activities of the research project.
