The Respiratory Neurobiology Laboratory of the Department of Physiology and Biophysics of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences/USP has an open Postdoctoral Fellowship in the area of Respiratory Physiology.

The fellowship is linked to the Thematic Project coordinated by Dr. Thiago S. Moreira. The researcher will develop a project to assess whether mutations in the PHOX2B gene may affect the central chemoreceptor process and thus compromise respiratory function during development. Therefore, the candidate should have experience in the following techniques: central nervous system injections of drugs and viral vectors; respiratory and cardiovascular parameters recordings in anesthetized and conscious animals; in vivo electrophysiology; knowledge of opto- and pharmacogenetics techniques; immunohistochemistry; microscopy; methods of genes expression analysis. In addition, the candidate should have independence in the development of the techniques, interest and motivation for the development of the experiments, collaboration with the work team and must be fluent in English.

The selection will be through curriculum analysis. The professional who fill the requirements will have to send an e-mail to tmoreira@icb.usp.br (coordinator of the project), until 02/24/2017, with the following information: a) curriculum vitae brought up to date; b) Reference letter of 2 researchers linked to the project area.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP's Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 6.819,30 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
