Marcia Scazufca

In 2009, Dr Scazufca entered a career as a Scientific Researcher in the State of São Paulo. She is currently Scientific Researcher VI at the Laboratory of Psychopathology and Psychiatric Therapeutics (LIM-23) of the Institute of Psychiatry, Clinics Hospital of the University of São Paulo Medical School, and Collaborating Researcher at the University of São Paulo Medical School. She has a productivity grant from CNPq, level 1D.

Graduated in Psychology at Pontífica Universidade Católica (PUC-SP) (1984), Master in Social Psychology (1996) at the University of São Paulo, Master in Epidemiology (2006) at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine-University of London, PhD (1996) at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neurosciences-King's College London (IoPPN), and postdoctoral fellow (2006-2008) at the Academic Unity of Psychiatry-University of Bristol.

She collaborates as a Visiting Scientist (2017) at the Bernard Lown in Cardiovascular Health Program, Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, and as a Visiting Researcher (2018) at the Global Mental Health Research Group, IoPPN.

Her scientific interest is in epidemiology and mental health, with an emphasis on research with adults and older adults, mental health in primary care, pragmatic clinical trials, and the development of innovative treatment models for mental disorders.
