Scientific Manager – Biomedical Sciences
Graduated in Biological Science from the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences, and Letters Barão de Mauá (Ribeirão Preto) in 1988. FUNDAP fellow at the Immunogenetics Laboratory of the Nephrology Department at the School of Medicine, USP Ribeirão Preto (FMUSP-RP) until 1992, and CNPq fellow at the Department of Immunology, ICB, USP, São Paulo.
Master degree in Immunogenetics from the Federal University of São Paulo (EPM-UNIFESP) in 1999 and a PhD in Host-Parasite Biology from the University of São Paulo (USP) in 2004. Postdoctoral fellowships from the Institute of Chemistry at USP (2004-2008) and the University of Georgia, USA (2010-2011). Visiting Professor at the Weizmann Institute of Science (WIS) in Israel. Currently an Associate Professor at UNIFESP, Diadema Campus.
Member of the board and scientific committee of the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV) between 2016-2020 and 2022-2024. General Coordinator of LatinEV from 2016 to 2023 and is currently the Communications Coordinator of ISEV for the 2024-2026 term. Associate Editor for several scientific journals, including: Frontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, Journal of Immunology Research, Frontiers in Immunology, Journal of Extracellular Biology, Brazilian Journal of Health Research, Journal of Extracellular Vesicles, Frontiers in Microbiology, and Frontiers in Bioscience.
Several awards for scientific contributions, including recognition from the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV) and the Israeli Society for Extracellular Vesicles (EVI). Member of evaluation committees, including CNPq, CAPES PrInt at UFMG, the Azrieli Faculty of Medicine at Bar-Ilan University, the Academic Review Committee at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, and the Friends of the Weizmann Institute of Science in Brazil.
Currently participating as the Leader of Biomedical Sciences 1 and 2 at FAPESP. The research focuses on Immunology, Cell Biology, and Parasitology, with an emphasis on the characterization of extracellular vesicles (EVs) produced by parasites and the mechanisms of EV-host interaction.
