Graduated in Agronomy in 1990 from the São Paulo State University (FCAV/Unesp). MS in Science (Microbiology) at the University of São Paulo (Cena/USP) in 1993 and PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology at the University of Campinas (Unicamp) in 2002.
Sabbatical at the University of California, Berkeley (2009). Since 2004 has been working as a scientific researcher at the Agronomic Institute (IAC)/Citrus Research Center (CCSM), a research institute under the Secretary of Agriculture and Supply of São Paulo state – https://www.iac.sp.gov.br.
My research focuses on microorganisms in citrus, including both beneficial and pathogenic microorganisms. I'm also dedicate time to study the genetic diversity and biology of bacteria transmitted by vectors, such as Xylella fastidiosa and Candidatus Liberibacter spp., host resistance, and citrus management diseases.
