Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Astroparticle Physics

• Resumo Summary

  O grupo de astropartículas do IF-USP abre inscrições para uma bolsa de pós-doutorado em astropartículas com foco na ciência do Observatório CTA. O tema principal de pesquisa envolve as propriedades de fontes de raios-gama extragalácticos: suas classes, espectro de emissão, absorção por meio de litografia por feixe de elétrons (EBL), função de luminosidade, etc.

  Requisitos:

  - PhD em física, astronomia (ou equivalente);
  - Papel ativo no cenário internacional de astropartículas;
  - Experiência com ferramentas computacionais modernas;
  - Excelentes habilidades de comunicação e bom conhecimento de inglês.

  O candidato selecionado se estabelecerá em São Paulo (capital). A bolsa faz parte de Projeto Temático FAPESP e tem duração de 24 meses, renovável por outros dois períodos de 12 meses, dependendo de aprovação.

  A vaga está aberta a brasileiros e estrangeiros. O selecionado receberá Bolsa de Pós-Doutorado da FAPESP no valor de R$ 8.479,20 mensais e Reserva Técnica equivalente a 10% do valor anual da bolsa para atender a despesas imprevistas e diretamente relacionadas à atividade de pesquisa.

  The astroparticle physics group at the Physics Institute of the University of São Paulo (Brazil) invites applications for a postdoc position with a special focus on the science scope of the CTA Observatory. The main subject of interest is the properties of powerful extragalactic gamma-ray sources: their classes, emission spectra, absorption by Electron Beam Lithography (EBL), luminosity function, etc.

  Requirements:

  - Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or equivalent defended in the last 7 years;
  - Active role in the astroparticle international scenario;
  - Working experience with modern software tools;
  - Outstanding teamwork abilities;
  - Excellent communication skills and good knowledge of English.

  The selected candidate will live in the city of São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil. The fellowship is offered within a Thematic Program for a period of 24 months with two possible extensions of 12+12 months depending on approval.

  This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the amount of R$ 8,479.20 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
