  • Resumo Summary

    Vaga para pós-doutorado no Instituto Butantan para atuar em projeto de caracterização de genomas de serpentes brasileiras com foco na evolução de venenos e de famílias gênicas. A metodologia será majoritariamente realizada in silico, envolvendo análises bioinformáticas de montagem e anotação de genomas, correlação com transcriptomas e proteomas, busca por regiões regulatórias, organização gênica de famílias de toxinas e análises genômicas comparativas (vide: PNAS 2021 Vol. 118 n. 20 e2015159118).

    O estudo é parte de um Projeto Temático FAPESP em parceria com universidades norte-americanas. A bolsa terá duração garantida de 6 meses (início em 1/3/2023), e sua contunidade estará sujeita à renovação do Projeto Temático vinculado.

    Pré-requisitos:

    1) Título de doutor obtido até a data de início da bolsa;

    2) Bom histórico de publicações científicas;

    3) Experiência em análises bioinformáticas, como montagem de novo, anotação de genomas e transcriptomas, e análises filogenéticas;

    4) Capacidadede de trabalho em Linux/Shell e programação, ou execução avançada, em linguarem Python, R, etc.;

    5) Desejável conhecimento em evolução molecular, evolução de famílias gênicas e composição de venenos animais;

    6) Desejável fluência em inglês.

    Enviar e-mail para inacio.azevedo@butantan.gov.br contendo:

    - CV;
    - Carta justificando o interesse pela vaga;
    - Contatos de 2 pesquisadores para referência.

    A vaga está aberta a brasileiros e estrangeiros. O selecionado receberá Bolsa de Pós-Doutorado da FAPESP no valor de R$ 8.479,20 mensais e Reserva Técnica equivalente a 10% do valor anual da bolsa para atender a despesas imprevistas e diretamente relacionadas à atividade de pesquisa.

    Position at Butantan Institute in São Paulo, Brazil for a post-doctoral fellowship granted by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) to characterize the genomes of Brazilian snakes with a focus on the evolution of venoms and gene families. The methodology will be mostly performed in silico, involving bioinformatics analysis such as genome assembly and annotation, correlation with transcriptomes and proteomes, search for regulatory regions, gene organization of toxin families, and comparative genomic analyses. See: PNAS 2021 Vol. 118 n. 20 e2015159118.

    The study is part of a Thematic Project in partnership with universities in the United States. The scholarship will have a guaranteed duration of 6 months (from 1/March/2023), and its continuity depends on the renewal of the associated Thematic Project.

    Prerequisites:

    1) Doctor's degree obtained up to the start date of the fellowship;

    2) Good history of scientific publications;

    3) Experience in bioinformatic analysis, such as de novo assembly, annotation of genomes and transcriptomes, and phylogenetic analyses;

    4) Ability to work in Linux/Shell and programming, or advanced execution, in Python, R, etc.;

    5) Desirable knowledge in molecular evolution, evolution of gene families, and composition of animal venoms;

    6) Desirable fluency in English.

    Send an email to inacio.azevedo@butantan.gov.br containing:

    - CV;
    - Cover letter justifying interest in the position;
    - Contacts of 2 researchers for references.

    This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 8,479.20 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
