The Thematic Project “Study of the mechanisms responsible for Trained Immunity caused by Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) in infectious diseases and cancer”, based at the University of São Paulo's Biomedical Sciences Institute (ICB-USP) in Brazil and funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) through grant number 2023/02577-5, offers a post-doctoral fellowship opportunity. Our working hypothesis is based on the premise that trained immunity generated by the BCG vaccine induces heterologous protection against infections and cancer. To test this hypothesis, the central objective of this project is to investigate the mechanisms mediated by trained immunity caused by the BCG vaccine strain in tumor regression.

The opportunity is open to holders of a PhD for a maximum of 7 years, with relevant scientific production in the areas of Tumor Immunology. Prior experience in the use of primary and tumor cell culture techniques, in vitro and mouse tumor models, immunological techniques (ELISA, Western Blot, qPCR), flow cytometry, RNAseq, single cell, and immunological techniques in tumor evaluation is essential.

Interested candidates should contact Prof. Sergio Costa Oliveira, by email scozeus1@gmail.com, attaching a letter of interest, letter of recommendation and CV summary (according to FAPESP standards, with links to ORCID, Scopus and Google Scholar), by January 31, 2026. Position available immediately.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 12,570.00 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
