Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Molecular Biology

  A principal atividade será a validação de alvos moleculares, aplicando técnicas de edição genômica como CRISPR/Cas9, silenciamento genético por RNAi (knockdown) e/ou superexpressão de genes de interesse.

  O candidato selecionado irá se juntar ao Centro de Excelência para Descoberta de Alvos Moleculares (CENTD), um Centro de Pesquisa em Engenharia (CPE) apoiado pela FAPESP em conjunto com a GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) e hospedado pelo Instituto Butantan.

  • Doutorado em Bioquímica, Biologia Molecular ou áreas correlatas;

  • Boa produção científica, com publicações de primeira autoria na área;

  • Disponibilidade para colaborar em outros projetos dentro do CENTD, caso seja solicitado;

  • Experiência comprovada em:

  • Clonagem molecular e geração de células humanas geneticamente modificadas;
  • Construção de vetores virais;
  • Cultivo de bactérias;
  • Produção de partículas lentivirais;
  • Extração de ácidos nucléicos;
  • RT-qPCR;
  • Western blotting;
  • Análise de dados de sequenciamento tipo Sanger;
  • Desenhos de RNAs-guia (sgRNA);
  • Ensaios fenotípicos com cultura de células humanas.

  A vaga está aberta a brasileiros e estrangeiros. O selecionado receberá Bolsa de Pós-Doutorado da FAPESP no valor de R$ 8.479,20 mensais e Reserva Técnica equivalente a 10% do valor anual da bolsa para atender a despesas imprevistas e diretamente relacionadas à atividade de pesquisa.

  The fellow will have the opportunity to work on the identification and characterization of new molecular targets identified in cellular models using multiple approaches. In this process, cells are subjected to various stimuli and then treated with potentially anti-inflammatory synthetic peptides. Targets are identified by chemoproteomic strategies.

  The fellow will focus primarily on validating the identified targets with the use of genomic editing techniques such as CRISPR/Cas9 (gene knockout), RNAi gene silencing (knockdown) and/or overexpression of genes of interest.

  The selected candidate will join the Centre of Excellence in Target Discovery (CENTD), an Engineering Research Center (ERC) supported by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in conjunction with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), and hosted by the Butantan Institute in São Paulo, Brazil.

  Candidates must have a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related areas, good scientific output with publications as first author in the area of expertise that are compatible with the position, motivation to solve complex biological problems in the field of molecular target discovery, and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment. Excellent organizational skills with experience in planning and developing experiments, a proactive mindset, independence and group work are essential. In addition, the candidate must have good communication skills in English, for drafting scientific manuscripts and orally presenting/discussing results at regular meetings with the participation of GSK.

  This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP’s Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 8,479.20 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
