The project aims to evaluate and compare the effects of the exposure of bees to doses of pesticide residues, isolated and combined, by means of toxicological parameters. Dr. Osmar Malaspina is the coordinator of the project that has 5 subprojects and 3 institutions. The scholarship in question will be linked to subproject 3 – How do pesticides interact with the bee immune system?  The candidate should work on the development of toxicological tests of bee exposure to pesticides, and will be based in the Federal University of São Carlos in Araras, state of São Paulo, Brazil.

The desirable requirements for the candidate are: (1) Experience in insect studies, preferably bees; (2) Knowledge of insect morphophysiology; (3) Knowledge of microscopy and ecotoxicological assessment techniques and biomarkers.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the amount of R$ 7,373.10 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
