Resumo
Summary
Enjoying great stability and consensus over decades, the relations of the three major groups of Dinosauria (Ornithischia, Sauropodomorpha, and Theropoda) have been the target of recent challenges, opening a window to the proposition of new hypotheses of relationships. This scenario supports the need to conduct a research project that specifically aims to formulate a new and robust phylogenetic hypothesis for the main lineages of dinosaurs, including both the review of previous studies and the survey of new anatomical data that may support a better understanding of this issue.
In addition to the traditional analyses based on parsimony, it is proposed to complement the phylogenetic investigations with the use of Bayesian inference and taxa calibrated in geological time, in order to investigate macroevolutionary issue based on phenotypic and biogeographic approaches.
Studies will be conducted at the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of the University of São Paulo in Ribeirão Preto, in Brazil.
This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the amount of R$ 7,373.10 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
