Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Emerging and Reemerging Viruses

• Resumo Summary

  O bolsista atuará no estudo genômico e metagenômico para a prospecção de novos vírus em animais silvestres. Também atuará na gestão de dados laboratoriais e nas etapas de análises de bioinformática e estatística com os pós-graduandos envolvidos do projeto.

  Descrição dos Objetivos: estudar o viroma de pacientes com doença febril aguda e com infecção do sistema nervoso central que não tenham diagnóstico definido por metodologias tradicionais; pesquisar vírus zoonóticos que infectam animais silvestres (morcegos, roedores, gambás e primatas não humanos).

  Requisitos: o candidato deve ter mestrado e doutorado em Microbiologia, Genética ou áreas afins, com experiência em biologia molecular, genômica e filogenômica microbiológica, além de já ter trabalhado com análise de dados por sequenciamento de nova geração – NGS (comprovado com artigos publicados). Artigos com dados de sequenciamento de Sanger serão um diferencial.

  A vaga está aberta a brasileiros e estrangeiros. O selecionado receberá Bolsa de Pós-Doutorado da FAPESP no valor de R$ 8.479,20 mensais e Reserva Técnica equivalente a 10% do valor anual da bolsa para atender a despesas imprevistas e diretamente relacionadas à atividade de pesquisa.

  The post-doctoral fellow will work in the genomic and metagenomic study for the prospection of new viruses. He or she will also work in the management of laboratory data, bioinformatics and statistical analysis, with the graduate students involved in the project. Studies will be carried out at the Ribeirão Preto Medical School of the University of São Paulo (FMRP-USP) in Brazil.

  Description of Objectives:

  - To study the virome of patients with acute febrile illness and central nervous system infections that do not have a diagnosis defined by traditional methodologies;

  - Search for zoonotic viruses infecting wild animals (bats, rodents, skunks and non-human primates).

  Requirements: The candidate must have Master's and Doctorate degrees in Microbiology, Genetics or similar areas, with experience in molecular biology, genomics and microbiological phylogenomics, in addition to having worked with NGS data analysis (proven published articles). Articles with Sanger sequencing data will be a differential.

  This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the amount of R$ 8,479.20 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
