• Resumo Summary

  O projeto de pós-doutorado tem como objetivo determinar a resposta da porção tropical oeste do Atlântico profundo às interrupções/marcantes enfraquecimentos da célula de revolvimento meridional do Atlântico durante o último período glacial e a última deglaciação. O(A) pós-doutorando(a) analisará preferencialmente os seguintes indicadores em sedimentos marinhos: (i) composição dos isótopos estáveis de carbono e oxigênio em foraminíferos bentônicos; (ii) idade radiocarbono de foraminíferos bentônicos e planctônicos; e (iii) elementos redox maiores e menores em sedimento total.

  Pré-requisitos:

  Experiência em um dos indicadores mencionados acima e interesse em aplicar os demais; conhecimento avançado de inglês.

  O selecionado receberá Bolsa de Pós-Doutorado da FAPESP no valor de R$ 8.479,20 mensais e Reserva Técnica equivalente a 10% do valor anual da bolsa para atender a despesas imprevistas e diretamente relacionadas à atividade de pesquisa.

  This post-doctoral project aims at determining the detailed response of the deep western tropical Atlantic to the shutdown/marked slowdown events of the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation during the glacial and deglacial periods. The selected candidate will analyze the following main proxies in marine sediments: (i) stable carbon and oxygen isotopic composition of benthic foraminifera; (ii) radiocarbon age of benthic and planktonic foraminifera; and (iii) major and minor redox elements in bulk sediment.

  The fellow will based in the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities of the University of São Paulo (EACH-USP) in Brazil.

  Pre-requisites:

  Experience with one of the proxies mentioned above and willingness to apply the other proxies; excellent English communication skills.

  The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the amount of R$ 8,479.20 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
