Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Mechanical Engineering

• Resumo Summary

  Dentro do Consórcio para desenvolvimento do espectrógrafo MOSAIC para o Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) a ser feito para o European Southern Observatory (ESO), os participantes brasileiros estão encarregados do desenho, e futuramento da construção da estrutura de suporte do espectrógrafo. Uma companhia será contratada a um dado momento, e os participantes brasileiros responsáveis pelo projeto deverão supervisionar os trabalhos da companhia.

  Objetivos:

  O objetivo desta bolsa é o treinamento de um engenheiro mecânico para aprender as técnicas sofisticadas em instrumentação astronômica, trabalhar no desenho (e mais tarde na construção) da estrutura de suporte do espectrógrafo MOSAIC, assim como supervisionar a parte do trabalho a ser realizado por uma companhia.

  1) Plano de Trabalho explicando em que aspectos específicos do projeto o candidato poderá contribuir;

  2) Curriculum Vitae.

  A bolsa é prevista para 2 anos. A Bolsa PD FAPESP é de R$ 9.047,40 por mês e inclui 10% deste valor para outras despesas. A bolsa poderá ser estendida por mais 2 anos.

  Within the Consortium for the development of the MOSAIC spectrograph for the Extremely Large Telescope to be delivered to the European Southern Observatory, the Brazilian participants will be in charge of the design, and later of the building of the support structure for the spectrograph. A company will be hired for this, which means the project will need mechanical and electronic engineers to supervise and interact with said company.

  Objectives:

  The objective of this fellowship is the training a mechanical engineer to be able to learn the sophisticated techniques in astronomical instrumentation, to work on the design and later the building of a support structure for the spectrograph MOSAIC, as well as to supervise the part of the work to be carried out by a company.

  1) Plan of Work explaining in which specific aspects the candidate can contribute to the project;

  2) Curriculum Vitae.

  The position is open for two years, extendable for two more years. The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the amount of R$ 9,047.40 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.  This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality.
