Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Viral Biotechnology

• Resumo Summary

  O Projeto Temático “Plataforma de Inovação Tecnológica para Emergências em Saúde”, sob coordenação do Prof. Dr. Durvanei Augusto Maria e uma equipe composta por pesquisadores do Instituto Butantan, tem disponível uma Bolsa de Pós-Doutorado da FAPESP.

  O(A) bolsista atuará no subprojeto intitulado “Plataformas Vacinais contra vírus (SARS-CoV-2)”, e suas atividades serão conduzidas no Laboratório de Biotecnologia Viral, sob a supervisão da Dra Soraia A. C. Jorge. Neste projeto, o(a) bolsista irá:

  1. Analisar a obtenção das partículas semelhantes a vírus (VLPs) e a expressão das proteínas recombinantes dos vírus alvo, em células de inseto infectadas com baculovírus recombinante; 
  2. Estabelecer e comparar as melhores condições de cultivo celular e infecção viral, de modo a otimizar a obtenção das VLPs;
  3. Avaliar a capacidade antigênica e imunogênica das VLPs obtidas; 
  4. Avaliar a possibilidade de escalonamento da produção das VLPs.

  O(A) candidato(a) deverá possuir conhecimentos em cultura de células animais, virologia molecular, PCR, imunoensaios (Western blot, dot blot, ELISA, entre outros), purificação de proteínas, vírus e/ou VLPs e cultivos em bioprocessos.

  A vaga está aberta a brasileiros e estrangeiros. O selecionado receberá Bolsa de Pós-Doutorado da FAPESP no valor de R$ 9.047,40 mensais e Reserva Técnica equivalente a 10% do valor anual da bolsa para atender a despesas imprevistas e diretamente relacionadas à atividade de pesquisa.

  The Thematic Project “Technological Innovation Platform for Health Emergencies”, under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Durvanei Augusto Maria and a team composed of researchers from the Butantan Institute in São Paulo, Brazil, has one post-doctoral fellowship available with funding from FAPESP, the São Paulo Research Foundation.

  The fellow will work on the subproject titled “Vaccine Platforms against viruses (SARS-CoV-2),” and their activities will be conducted at the Viral Biotechnology Laboratory, under the supervision of Dr. Soraia A. C. Jorge. In this project, the fellow will:

  1. Analyze the obtaining of virus-like particles (VLPs) and the expression of recombinant proteins of the target viruses in insect cells infected with recombinant baculovirus; 
  2. Establish and compare the best conditions of cell culture and viral infection, in order to optimize the obtaining of VLPs; 
  3. Evaluate the antigenic and immunogenic capacity of the VLPs obtained; 
  4. Evaluate the possibility of scaling up the production of VLPs.

  The candidate must have knowledge in animal cell culture, molecular virology, PCR, immunoassays (Western blot, dot blot, ELISA, among others), purification of proteins, viruses and/or VLPs, and cultures in bioprocesses.

The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 9,047.40 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
