Collaborative proposals with French researchers will be supported under the Regular Research Grant or Thematic Project modalities.
FAPESP and the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) have issued a new call for proposals for research projects involving collaboration between scientists from France and the state of São Paulo.
The call for proposals is launched under the terms of the ANR/FAPESP cooperation agreement. This is the 19th joint call for proposals.
The ANR/FAPESP Generic Call 2026 edition establishes six thematic axes: Engineering, Chemistry and Physics; Digital Sciences and Mathematics; Social Sciences and Humanities; Materials Sciences; Biological Resources, Ecosystems and the Environment; and Biology and Health.
Pre-registration in the call is required, and must be submitted exclusively by the French researcher partners to ANR, according to ANR procedures, until October 14, 2025. The São Paulo state researcher must participate on the writing of the document, including his/her own respective data.
Researchers deemed eligible by FAPESP and with approved pre-registration by the ANR will be invited to submit full proposals by the beginning of 2026. For applicants from the state of São Paulo, collaborative proposals will be carried out under FAPESP rules as Regular Research Grants (maximum duration of 48 months, exceptionally) or Thematic Projects (duration from 48 to 60 months).
To apply for a Regular or Thematic Grant, the call allows the participation of applicants who are responsible or principal researchers of ongoing grants in certain modalities, varying according to the type of funding requested. Researchers should consult item 3.2 of the call to verify if they meet the eligibility requirements based on the type of ongoing FAPESP grant.
The call for proposals is available (in Portuguese) at www.fapesp.br/17789.
