Aline Maria da Silva is a Full Professor at the Biochemistry Department of the Chemistry Institute, University of São Paulo (USP). She graduated in Pharmacy (1983) at USP and received a PhD degree in Biochemistry (1987) from the same university. She was a post-doctoral fellow at Saint Louis University Medical School (USA) (1987-1989) and a visiting researcher scholar at University of California, Berkeley (2011). She is member of the Brazilian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Board of Directors (2015) and of the São Paulo State Academy of Sciences (2017). 

Her research field is Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Genomics of Microorganisms. She has experience in multi-omics approaches to investigate pathogenicity and virulence mechanisms in bacteria and to uncover the diversity, dynamics and function of environmental microbial communities and animal-host microbiotas.
