Paolo Piccione

Area Panel - Mathematics

Graduated in Mathematics at the Università La Sapienza, Roma, Italy, in 1987, and obtained his Ph. D. in Mathematics at The Pennsylvania State University in 1994. He spent sabbatical years at theScuola Normal Superiore, Pisa, Italy, in 2002, at the Universidad de Murcia, Spain, in 2009, and at the University of Notre Dame, IN, USA, in 2016.

His main interests are in the areas of Differential Geometry and Geometric Analysis.

He is a faculty member of the Mathematics Department of the Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil, since 1996, full professor since 2002. He was president of the Research Committee of the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics of the Universidade de São Paulo. He holds a CNPq (National Council of Scientific Research) Research Grant level 1-A.

Currently President of the Brazilian Mathematical Society (SBM), since 2017, and titular member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences since 2012.
