First Amendment to the Scientific Cooperation Agreement between São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and Italian National Research Council (CNR) Versão em português

The São Paulo Research Foundation, established by Law nº 5.918, of October 18th, 1960, with headquarters at Rua Pio XI, 1500, Alto da Lapa, São Paulo, SP, enrolled in CNPJ/MF under nº 43.828.151/0001-45, herein represented according to article 11, “a” of Law nº 5.918, combined with its General Rule approved by Decree n° 40.132, of May 23, 1962, represented by its President, Prof Dr Marco Antonio Zago, in the exercise of the powers delegated by Act of the Governor of the State of São Paulo, published in the Official Gazette of the State, of September 29th, 2018, hereinafter referred to as FAPESP, and the Italian National Research Council hereinafter referred to as CNR, founded as legal person on 18 November 1923, with headquarters at P.le Aldo Moro 7, 00185 Rome, Italy, represented by Prof. Massimo Inguscio, President of CNR, and both hereinafter referred to as "Parties”:

CONSIDERING the importance of promoting cooperation in scientific and technological research between Italy and the State of São Paulo, Brazil, wishing to strengthen this cooperation on the basis of equality and mutual benefit;

CONSIDERING the need to strengthen the links between the scientific communities of both countries and also to encourage new forms of collaboration between their research centers;

IT IS HEREBY AGREED AS FOLLOWS:

1- In accordance with clause 7 of the original Agreement, the Parties agree to extend the duration of the Agreement for an additional five (5) years from when the Agreement was due to expire and, therefore, the Agreement shall now terminate on 16th July, 2024;

2- All other terms of the Agreement remain unchanged and in full force and effect.

3- The Action Plan for 2019 joint activities under this Agreement is included as Annex 1.

As provided at Clause 4 of the Cooperation Agreement, the Joint Steering Committee will prepare annually the Action Plans for the following years.

Declared their intentions, the Parties sign this Amendment in two (2) originals, in English, Portuguese and Italian versions, all texts being equally authentic. In case of divergence in interpretation, the English text will prevail.

Signed May 21, 2019 and valid until July 16, 2024.
