He holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine from São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho (Unesp) (1993), a master's degree in Veterinary Sciences with a focus on Reproduction from the Université de Montréal (1997), Canada, and a PhD in Genetics from the University of São Paulo (USP) (1999).
Currently, he is an Associate Professor MS5 (Habilitation) at USP, an ad hoc advisor for FAPESP, an associate editor of Genetics and Molecular Research, and a reviewer for the journals Heredity, Animal Genetics, and Genetics and Molecular Biology, among others.
He has experience in the field of Genetics, with an emphasis on Cytoplasmic Inheritance, primarily focusing on the following topics: mtDNA, Bos indicus, cattle, embryos, and apoptosis.
