Humberto Rocha, PhD, Engineer and Professor of Climatology and Hydrometeorology in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of São Paulo. His area of research comprehends the water and carbon cycle of Brazillian land terrestrial ecosystems, using field observations with automated flux towers and simulations with computational numerical modelling. He participated in the Large-Scale Biosphere- Atmosphere Interaction Experiment in Amazonia (LBA) as the South American P.I. for several projects sponsored by NASA, and is the lead scientist of FAPESP funded projects adressed to data collection at multiple flux towers and simulation of river discharge, rainfall and crop production, which includes catchment studies over areas with Sugar cane, Eucalyptus, Savanna, Amazonian forest and Atlantic forest, in cooperation with private, NGO and government.
