As part of their accord on scientific cooperation, FAPESP and the French Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et Automatique (INRIA, National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control) issued a new call for researcher exchange.

Proposals for research and development in information and communication technology and their application to any area of knowledge will be considered eligible if they involve collaborations between INRIA researchers and those at institutions of higher learning in the state of São Paulo.

Successful proposals will receive financing for researcher exchange involving travel by São Paulo researchers to INRIA installations and visits by researchers from the French institution to São Paulo institutions.

The call for proposals is open to researchers currently supported by FAPESP under the following grant mechanisms: Regular Research Awards; Thematic Project; the Young Researchers in Emerging Centers Program; and the Centers for Research, Innovation and Dissemination (Cepid) Program.

On the French side, funding is available to INRIA researchers and engineers as well as to researchers or academics with authorization from their home institutions to participate in INRIA projects.

FAPESP will provide up to 10,000 Euros annually for each approved proposal. The funding made available for missions is intended to pay for round-trip airfare to France and for living expenses.

Travel to France will be funded for periods of up to one month by principal investigators of FAPESP projects or by their graduate or postdoctoral students. FAPESP will provide health insurance during travel periods.

Visiting researchers will be considered guests of the host institution and should abide by its rules and regulations.
Proposals will be accepted beginning on March 1, 2011 and require two simultaneous submissions; one to FAPESP by a researcher based in the state of São Paulo and another to INRIA by a counterpart in France.

Application forms should be submitted in English and should include content similar to that of those submitted by the French team.
