Researcher exchange with the University of Southampton FAPESP and UK institution issue a joint call for proposals for the exchange of researchers between in all fields of research

As part of their accord on scientific collaboration, FAPESP and the University of Southampton, in the United Kingdom, are jointly issuing a public call for proposals for researcher exchange.

Researchers affiliated with public or private institutions of higher learning or research in the state of São Paulo are eligible if they have an ongoing project funded by one of the following FAPESP grant mechanisms: Regular Research Grants, Thematic Project Grants, the Young Researchers at Emerging Centers Program, or the Centers for Research, Innovation, and Dissemination. Researchers affiliated with the University of Southampton can participated on the UK side.

Each application may nominate as candidates the principal investigator of a FAPESP grant, doctoral researchers, or FAPESP postdoctoral fellows affiliated with the research project.

This call for proposals is open to researchers in all fields. The duration of researcher exchanges may be as long as 24 months. However, all exchanges must begin and end within the time frame of the FAPESP-funded project.

FAPESP and the University of Southampton will award each successful applicant the equivalent of up to £5,000 per year to cover transportation, housing, and insurance expenses.

Applications must be submitted simultaneously by researchers in each country. Researchers in the state of São Paulo should apply to FAPESP. Their collaborators in the United Kingdom should apply to the University of Southampton. The deadline for applications is 22 July, 2011.
