FAPESP selects proposals in call for proposals with South African foundation Versão em português

Joint funding with the National Research Foundation will ensure the holding of International Scientific Seminars in Social Sciences and Humanities.

FAPESP announces the results of a call for proposals launched this year with the National Research Foundation (NRF), South Africa's research funding agency. Three proposals were approved.

It was the second bilateral call for support for scientific collaborations between São Paulo and South African researchers in the history of the cooperation agreement between FAPESP and NRF, signed in 2015. NRF has also participated in four editions of SPRINT, a FAPESP modality that finances mobility proposals (seed funding) by researchers from São Paulo with partners from institutions abroad.

In line with the purpose of the call, the contemplated projects will organize International Scientific Seminars (ISS) in Social Sciences and Humanities for up to 20 participants, which must be held in person at some location in the African country or in the Brazilian state.

The ultimate goal of these projects is the establishment of communities of practice (CoP) in which researchers from São Paulo and South Africa will share solution-oriented research results, in order to act in the co-production of public policies by influencing the performance of policymakers and other stakeholders.
