Information Technology in the Development of Advanced Internet Program, TIDIA (closed) Versão em português

The Information Technology in the Development of Advanced Internet Program (TIDIA) was launched by FAPESP in 2001 with the aim of transforming the internet into an object of research.

It proposed partnerships with companies in the telecommunications sector and the creation of a high velocity fiber optic network to connect, initially, São Paulo, Campinas and São Carlos and, at a later date, other municipalities in the State of São Paulo.

This network served as a testing ground for research projects submitted to the Program and implemented via academic networks. Another objective of the TIDIA Program was to train specialists in the development of internet technologies.
