SPRINT - 3rd Edition 2016: Guideline Conicet
Specific requests for submission of proposals in partnership with researchers from CONICET
FAPESP and CONICET signed a Cooperation Agreement for Research on July, 2016 (renovating a cooperation established in 2010), aiming to implement scientific and technological cooperation between researchers from the CONICET, Argentina and from the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil, through the funding of joint research projects.
Under the referred Agreement, as an action to promote such collaboration, FAPESP and CONICET make public this Call for Proposals for the exchange of researchers, under the terms and conditions of the SPRINT 3rd Edition 2016 (www.fapesp.br/sprint/call32016) and hereinafter set forth.
1. Eligibility from CONICET side:
1.1 Eligibility to submit proposals within the scope of this Call:
a. The project head must be a member of the science and technology research career of CONICET and shall be a CONICET PIP or Agency PICT project head or member.
b. Only one submission will be admitted from each project head for International Cooperation calls offered by CONICET.
c. The project is open to the participation of researchers, postdoctoral and doctoral fellowship holders of CONICET and / or other institutions.
1.2 Eligibility for the exchange activities within the scope of this Call:
a. The exchange of researchers is only available to researchers and/or postdoctoral fellows. Projects whose beneficiaries are young researchers and / or fellowship holders should be prioritized.
b. The beneficiary of the exchange should be different in each year of implementation and must inform if he/she has any grant from CONICET for international mobility e.g scholarships for staying abroad.
c. The scientific project must be done together with the counterpart, taking into account the model annexed in the present template.
d. At the end of the project, those responsible must submit a final report in the official language of each country.
2. Fields of knowledge
This Call for Proposals invites research proposals in all fields of knowledge.
3. Duration of the project for the exchange of researchers
The maximum duration of each project is up to 18 months.
4. Funding principles
FAPESP will provide funding of up to the equivalent of US$6,000.00 (six thousand dollars) per proposal and CONICET will provide funding of up to the equivalent of ARS 80.000 (aprox US$6,000.00) per proposal, for the duration of the grant to cover research-related mobility expenses, under the provisions of Clause 5 of the Scientific Cooperation Agreement established by the Parties (www.fapesp.br/5949).
A maximum of 15 will be funded by CONICET.
5. Proposal characteristics for CONICET researchers
a. Relevance of the problem.
b. Theme approach (Work Plan included).
c. Cooperation background.
d. Added value through international cooperation (future association in international projects or consortia should be stated).
e. Bibliographic references.
6. Submission of proposals to CONICET
Submissions can only be accepted by SIGEVA (Integral System of Management and Evaluation)

Call closure: 28.09.16
Assessment of results: January 2017
7. Result of the analysis
Final results will be announced on FAPESP (www.fapesp.br) and CONICET (www.conicet.gov.ar) web portals and by means of a communication to the interested PIs.
8. Contract for selected projects by CONICET
Selected proposals will subject to the conditions set forth in Resolution D. No. 3596/09. Funds should be managed and accounted for in accordance with the rules and time limits in force in the Institution. These funds will be used to defray the current expenses as detailed in section 5, in line with the provisions of the System of the Financing and Accountability Manual, sanctioned by Resolution D. No. 3596/09. And the amounts established by Resolution D. No. 863/14.
