BS in Statistics from the University of Campinas (1985), MsSci in Mathematics from the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) (1988) and Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Wisconsin - Madison (1993). She visited University of California - Berkeley in 1999 as a pos-doc and University of Washington in 2015 as Visiting Scholar.
She is a faculty member in the Department of Statistics, UNICAMP (University of Campinas) since 1988, and a full professor since 2002. She has a CNPq (National Council of Scientific Research) research fellowship, level 1-B. She was the coordinator of the committee for Mathematics / Probability and Statistics at CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel) in the period from 2011 to 2014 and Editor-in-Chief of the Brazilian Journal of Probability and Statistics in 2013/2014. Currently she belongs to the editorial board of the Brazilian Journal of Probability and Statistics and Environmetrics.
