The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and the Belmont Forum have extended the closing dates of the new call for proposals – their second launching in 2019 – under the cooperation agreement signed by the institutions.

The new closing date for eligibility consultation to FAPESP is June 20, 2019. And the new closing date for submission of full proposals to the Belmont Forum is July 10, 2019.

Through the call the Belmont Forum aims at fostering research that could engage stakeholders in a collective action in order to ameliorate disaster risk – defined as extreme environmental events generated either by natural or anthropogenic forces – and to enhance overall societal resilience to disasters.

The call, entitled “Disaster Risk, Reduction and Resilience”, is supported by six selected funding agencies from the Belmont Forum in different countries. The complete list of participants can be found at www.belmontforum.org/opportunities

The call will support collaborative projects in the topics “Assessment and Reduction of Disaster Risk”, “Enhancing Disaster Resilience” and “Cyber-Enabled Effective Disaster Response”.

Proposals must combine significant contributions by national research teams from at least three of the countries participating in the international call.

Proponents from the State of São Paulo must follow the specific guidelines, based on the scheme of FAPESP’s Regular Research Awards. Exceptions are described in the call for proposals.

After the full proposals submission phase, principal investigators from the State of São Paulo will be individually contacted by FAPESP for further instructions on how to submit the complete documentation through SAGe system.

Guidelines for researchers from the State of São Paulo are available at www.fapesp.br/en/12749.
