Area Panel – Engineering

Chemical Engineer from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar, 1990), Master in Chemical Engineering from UFSCar (1992), PhD in Chemical Engineering from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp, 1996), and Associate Professor in Biological Wastewater Treatment from the São Carlos School of Engineering at the University of São Paulo (EESC-USP, 2005).

He conducts research in the field of Biological Process Engineering, with an emphasis on anaerobic processes applied to wastewater treatment for the production of bioenergy (hydrogen and methane) and biomolecules (acids and biopolymers), the removal of organic micropollutants, and the environmental management of industrial and sanitary effluents. His approach prioritizes fundamental aspects (kinetics, bioreactors, and mass transfer) and technological aspects (process variables and financial analysis), aiming for full-scale application.

Researcher at the São Carlos School of Engineering at the University of São Paulo (EESC-USP) since 2001. Productivity Grant Holder (PQ-1B level) from CNPq. Member of the Advisory Committee on Engineering and Environmental Sciences at CNPq (2020-2023). Associate Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Chemical Engineering.
