Chemical Engineer (Federal University of São Carlos-UFSCar-1990), Master in Chemical Engineering (Federal University of São Carlos-UFSCar-1992), PhD in Chemical Engineering (State University of Campinas-UNICAMP-1996) and habilitation (“Livre-Docência”) in Biological Wastewater Treatment (School of Engineering of São Carlos-University of São Paulo-EESC-USP-2005).
Full Professor at the Mauá School of Engineering of Mauá Institute of Technology (EEM-IMT) since 1998 and Collaborating Professor at the School of Engineering of São Carlos of University of São Paulo (EESC-USP) since 2001.
His research is focused on anaerobic bioreactors for wastewater treatment, bioenergy generation and products recovery. He is the Head of the Research Group “Biological Wastewater Treatment” and Researcher (level 1B) of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). He is also Associate Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Chemical Engineering (Environmental Engineering) and Scientific Council Member of the Brazilian Journal of Food Technology.
