Bachelor's at Veterinary Medicine from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (Unesp) (1986), Primatology specialization from Universidade de Brasília (UnB) (1987), master's at Animal Genetic Improvement from Unesp (1992) and doctorate at Genetics from Unesp (1998).

Ex vice-chair and actual member of the Deer Specialist Group/ International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), coordinator of the Ex situ Conservation program of Marsh Deer, Executive coordinator of the Ungulate Conservation Action Plan of the ICMBio, Leadership of the Research Group of Deer Biology and Conservation (CNPq), Coordinator of the Deer Research and Conservation Center (NUPECCE/UNESP).

Assistant professor of the Animal Science Department from Faculdade de Ciências Agrárias e Veterinárias of UNESP. President (1996-1998) and Scientific Director (1998-2000, 2002-2004) of the Brazilian Association of Wildlife Veterinarians. Has experience in Genetics, reproduction and ecology of neotropical deer species.
