Gabriela Pellegrino Soares made her Bachelor studies in History at the University of São Paulo (1994), followed by a Master (1998) and a PhD (2002) in Social History at the same institution. She was granted scholarships for a PhD internship at Université Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (2000) and for a post-doctoral short-term research program at El Colegio de México (2006).

Gabriela Pellegrino was Professor of American History at the History Department of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1998-1999). She became Professor of Contemporary Latin American History at USP in 2004, achieving her Livre-docência thesis at the Faculty of Philosophy, Literature and Human Sciences (2014).

She is currently Associated Professor at the History Department of USP, coordinator of the under-graduation career in History and associated researcher of the Guita and José Mindlin Brasiliana Library. Gabriela Pellegrino is CNPq´s researcher (1d), now developing the project “The Ancient History of the New World. Knowledge, power and identity in the archeological discovery. Transnational itineraries, 1887-1911”.

She was Researcher and Visiting Professor at the Institut des Hautes Études de l´Amérique Latine, Université Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3 (2018) and coordinator of the Brazilian team in the international cooperation project “Transatlantic Cultures, Cultural Histories of the Atlantic World 18th – 21st Centuries” (FAPESP/Agence Nationale de la Recherche, 2017-2021). She also participates in the project “Latin American identities”, led by the National University of Quilmes, Argentina, and USP (2019-2021).

Gabriela Pellegrino was first secretary of the National Association for History-ANPUH (2015-2017) and represented ANPUH as delegate in the International Committee of Historical Sciences´ assemblies (2013, 2015).

As Professor and PhD supervisor at the Social History Graduation Program/USP, she coordinates the research field consecrated to “History, culture and power”. Gabriela Pellegrino held the position of Program´s vice-coordinator (2011-2014), as well of member of CAPES evaluation committees (2015, 2017).

She is also a member and ex-coordinator of the Laboratory for Studies on America History at USP (2016-2018) and, since 2014, collaborator of the USP/Univesp long-distance courses.
