Full Professor of Anthropology in the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp) and Researcher of National Council of Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).
Director of the Unifesp Press, since 2016.
She has a Ph.D. in social anthropology (1994) and a master’s degree in social sciences (1986) at University of São Paulo (USP), where she also graduated in social sciences.
Advisory Committee Member of CNPq, for the area of Anthropology (2017/2020).
Visiting fellow in the École de Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (2015), and in the Kellogg Institute for Internacional Studies (1991). Guest professor at Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (2006-2005).
Her research focuses mainly on the theme of memory, exile, violence, suffering; body, health and disease; gender relations.
