FAPESP announces result for UK Academies Call for Proposals Versão em português

This opportunity featuring Newton Fund and British academies as partners had two projects selected under the Young Investigator category.

The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) announces the result for the 2019 edition of the UK Academies call for proposals. FAPESP takes part on this initiative since 2014 through CONFAP, the National Council for the State Funding Agencies.

The organization of the call is a result of a partnership involving Brazil’s National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), Newton Fund, and the UK Academies (The Academy of Medical Sciences, the British Academy, the Royal Academy of Engineering, and the Royal Society of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland).

The 2019 UK Academies call selected only proposals submitted under the Young Investigator Grant modality. The Researcher Mobility and Research Fellowships categories were cancelled in May 2020, as both require travel, which was inviabilized by international travel restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Young Investigator Grant category offered an opportunity for young investigators from the UK to start a research career at a University or Research institution in the state of São Paulo. Two projects were selected:

Preserving parasympathetic function for cognitive health during aging
