FAPESP joins call for proposals with European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean Versão em português

Call issued by EU-LAC, a network that brings together research funding agencies in the three regions, will support projects on global challenges, biodiversity, health and energy.

FAPESP announces its participation in the 2022 edition of the EU-LAC Interest Group call for proposals. EU-LAC is a consortium of 29 research funding agencies from the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean. The theme of this call for proposals is: global challenges, health, biodiversity and energy.

Created in 2017, EU-LAC carries forward the scientific cooperation network built in 2013 by the European Union-funded ERANet-LAC project. FAPESP represents Brazil in EU-LAC 2022, which also includes the participation of funding agencies from 12 other countries – Austria, Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Germany, Italy, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Poland, Spain, Turkey and Uruguay.

Proposals submitted to FAPESP must include a PI affiliated to a Research or Higher Education Institution in the state of São Paulo and, additionally, researchers from at least four countries among those participating in the call. EU-LAC offers a partner search tool to help bring together interested candidates.

In this call, FAPESP will fund proposals according to the rules and characteristics of the Research Regular Grants scheme. The Foundation will support projects with a maximum budget of 150,000 BRL per project per year, and with durations between 24 and 36 months.

The deadline for submission of proposals is April 28, 2022.

All proposals applying for FAPESP funding must be submitted both through the EU-LAC submission platform, by the lead PI of the multinational consortium of researchers, as well as through the SAGe System, by the the state of São Paulo proponent. Importantly, in the SAGe submission the lead PI of the consortium must be included as a team member, which means that the lead PI of the consortium must register in the SAGe platform.
