Thiago Regis Longo Cesar da Paixão

Graduated in Chemistry from the University of São Paulo (USP), where he obtained his bachelor's degree in 2001, his master's degree in 2004, and his doctorate in 2007. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the same institution between 2008 and 2009.

In 2011, he became a professor at the Institute of Chemistry of the USP, and since 2023, he has been a Full Professor (MS-6). He is a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow (Level 1D).

His experience includes the development of chemical sensors and electronic tongue sensor arrays, focusing on solving analytical problems in environmental, clinical, forensic, and food areas. He participates in international research networks with researchers in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Spain. He is a reviewer for major journals in his field and an ad hoc advisor for funding agencies in Brazil and abroad.

Between 2009 and 2024, he led 16 approved and funded projects by entities such as CNPq, FAPESP, ONGR, and CAPES. He was the Coordinator of the Chemistry Area at CAPES from 2022 to 2024, President of the Graduate Committee of the Institute of Chemistry of the University of São Paulo from 2018 to 2022, and Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Chemistry from 2014 to 2018.

He supervised 5 master's dissertations, 10 doctoral theses, and 5 postdoctoral researchers. In 2018, he was appointed an affiliate member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC) in the young scientists category, and starting from 2024, he serves as an Associate Editor of the journal Analytica Chimica Acta.
