Opportunity results in the formation of Tandem Research Groups involving research institutions from São Paulo and the Max Planck Institutes in Germany, with a duration of five years.

FAPESP announces the result of the call for proposals in the Young Investigators modality with the Max Planck Society (MPG), Germany, launched in March 2025.

Three proposals were selected, which will constitute Tandem Research Groups (TRG) linked to universities or research institutes in the state of São Paulo, in close collaboration with researchers from one of the 84 Max Planck Institutes.

The TRGs follow the structure of Max Planck Partner Groups worldwide, which support early-career scientists dedicated to independent, interdisciplinary, and cutting-edge research. Each TRG will be established in close scientific collaboration with a corresponding Max Planck Institute, which will provide scientific advice, support, training, and access to know-how, facilities, and infrastructure.

The selected scientific collaborations will last for five years, extendable by an additional 12 months based on performance review.
