As part of their accord on scientific and technological cooperation, FAPESP and the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas de La República Argentina (CONICET, Argentine National Council for Scientific and Technical Research), jointly announce a public call for proposals for researcher exchange.

Researchers affiliated with public or private institutions of higher learning or research in the state of São Paulo are eligible if they have an ongoing project funded by one of the following FAPESP grant mechanisms: Regular Research Grants, Thematic Project Grants, the Young Researchers at Emerging Centers Program, or the Centros de Pesquisa, Inovação e Difusão (Cepids, Centers for Research, Innovation, and Dissemination) fund. Applicants must have established joint research projects with collaborators at Argentine universities or research centers.

Each application may nominate as candidates the principal investigator of a FAPESP grant, postdoctoral researchers, or FAPESP postdoctoral fellows affiliated with the research project. Each candidate may participate in the exchange program once during the course of the research project.

Applications must be submitted simultaneously by researchers in both countries and must observe the requirements and deadlines agreed to by the funding institutions. Only applications approved by both FAPESP and CONICET will receive funding.

This call for proposals is open to proposals in all fields of science and technology. A simultaneous call for proposals directed at Argentine researchers is being issued by CONICET. Details can be found at www.conicet.gov.ar/coop/convocatoria/index.php.

Applications will be accepted until 30 November, 2010. The duration of the proposed exchanges may be as long as 24 months.
