FAPESP launches opportunity for collaboration in chemistry, along with NSF Versão em português

FAPESP launches opportunity for collaboration in chemistry, along with NSF The objective is to stimulate the establishment of collaborative activities between researchers in the United States and in the State of São Paulo (ilustr.: Nicolle Fuller, NSF)

FAPESP takes part for the first time in the International Collaborations in Chemistry (ICC) Program of the National Science Foundation Division of Chemistry (NSF/CHE).

The goal of this partnership is to stimulate innovative research projects in Chemistry conducted in cooperation between researchers in the U.S. and in the State of São Paulo.

Each joint proposal should have two principal investigators, one from an institution of higher education or research in the State of São Paulo and another in the United States.

Proposals must be submitted in a two-stage process: a preliminary proposal to NSF/CHE by the investigator in the United States, and if it is encouraged, a full proposal to both NSF and FAPESP.

The preliminary proposal will be received until November 4, 2011. More information about the submission on the NSF site at: www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=13627. The full proposal has a deadline of January 11, 2012.

Researchers in the State of São Paulo willing to participate in the call must be principal investigators (PI) of ongoing projects in one of the following schemes: Regular Research Grants; Thematic Project (PI or co-PI); Young Researchers in Emerging Centers, or Center for Research, Innovation and Diffusion - CPID/RDIP (PI or co-PI).

The call is open to all areas of  Fundamental Chemistry, with emphasis on "Sustainable Chemistry", including: Chemical Synthesis, Catalysis Chemistry, Theory, Models and Computational Methods, Measurements and Chemical Images, Structure, Dynamics and Chemical Mechanisms, Chemistry Macromolecular, Supramolecular and Nanochemistry, Environmental Chemistry, or Chemistry of life processes. More details at: www.nsf.gov/div/index.jsp?div=CHE.

The selected research proposals are to be developed within three years.
