As part of their accord on scientific collaboration, FAPESP and the University of Surrey, in the United Kingdom, are jointly issuing a public call for proposals for researcher exchange.

Researchers affiliated with public or private institutions of higher learning or research in the state of São Paulo are eligible if they have an ongoing project funded by one of the following FAPESP grant mechanisms: Regular Research Awards, Thematic Projects, Young Investigators, or Research, Innovation and Dissemination Centres (CEPIDs/RIDCs).

Each application may nominate as candidates the principal investigator of a FAPESP grant, postdoctoral researchers, or FAPESP postdoctoral fellows affiliated with the research project.

FAPESP and the University of Surrey will award each successful applicant the equivalent of up to £5,000 per selected proposal to cover transportation, housing, and insurance expenses.

Applications must be submitted simultaneously by researchers in each country. Researchers in the state of São Paulo should apply to FAPESP. Their collaborators in the United Kingdom should apply to the University of Surrey. The deadline for applications is 26 March, 2012.
