US Department of Energy / GOAmazon

The United States Department of Energy (DOE) manages the United States' nuclear infrastructure, administers the country's energy policy and funds scientific research in the field. Its mission is to ensure America’s security and prosperity by addressing its energy, environmental and nuclear challenges through transformative science and technology solutions.

The GOAmazon (Green Ocean Amazon) experiment, a program from the DOE, is coordinated through the DOE's Office of Biological and Environmental Research, Climate and Environmental Scienced Division. The experiment will extend through the wet and dry seasons from January 2014 through December 2015.

GOAmazon is an international campaign by the DOE with partnerships with research agencies as the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and the Amazonas Research Foundation (FAPEAM).

Those institutions will issue calls for proposals to fund collaborative research projects either between researchers from DOE and the State of São Paulo, or from DOE, the State of São Paulo and the State of Amazonas.

The aim is to promote and strengthen collaborations in the field of Amazonian Tropical Ecosystems between researchers from the State of São Paulo, from the State of Amazonas and from the U.S.

Research projects selected in joint calls with FAPESP
