FAPESP and NERC launch a call to establish new partnerships in Environmental Sciences Versão em português

This opportunity, with the British agency for environmental sciences, will fund for up to two years high-impact and potentially self-sustainable collaborative research.

FAPESP and the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) announce the 2022 edition of their joint call for bilateral collaborations, under the aegis of an agreement between FAPESP and the United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) of which NERC is a member.

The aim of the FAPESP-NERC Global Partnerships Seedcorn Fund is to develop, through short-term collaboration mechanisms, new partnerships between research groups from São Paulo and the United Kingdom in environmental sciences. Benefits expected from the implementation of the selected projects include the establishment of long-term, self-sustainable collaborations and the creation of high-impact knowledge. Proposals in the call should address NERC’s areas of activity, which include earth and marine sciences, freshwater biology, archeology, polar sciences, and atmospheric and Earth observation.

São Paulo researchers eligible to submit proposals to this opportunity must have current grants from FAPESP, and UK researchers current grants from NERC. The themes of the proposals must be related to the current grants.

The projects will receive support for mobility and exchange activities (such as daily travel and workshops) and for costs of exploratory studies (inputs, third-party services and low-cost equipment). FAPESP grants will follow the rules of the Regular Research Grant scheme, with duration of two years. Researchers from British institutions must follow the NERC guidelines.

Closing date for proposals submission is March 10, 2022. Results should be announced by July 31, 2021. Researchers from the UK must submit a notification of intent to NERC by February 17, 2022.
