Fátima Nunes receveid a B. Sc. in Computer Science (São Paulo State University-Unesp, 1994), a M.Sc in Electrical Engineering (University of São Paulo-USP, 1996) and PhD in Science (USP, 2001). She is a researcher in the areas of Graphic Processing and Data Science, with emphasis on Image and Signal Processing, Virtual Reality, Data Visualization and Content-based Multimedia Data Retrieval.
Her research has been mainly directed towards the solution of problems in the health area, involving the development of techniques to aid in the diagnosis, monitoring and rehabilitation of patients considering different fields of application.
She is a Full Professor at the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities (EACH-USP). She coordinates the implementation of open science and open data at the USP. She was Director of the Information Technology Center of São Paulo, belonging to the Superintendence of Information Technology at USP. Currently she is responsible for the Institutional Research Office at USP.
She acts as advisor for Graduate Programs in the area of Computer Science and Computer Engineering. She serves on editorial committees, reviewer committees, and program committees for many high-impact journals and conferences in her research field. She has organized several national and international scientific conferences and actively participates in scientific societies in her area. She has a vast list of publications in relevant vehicles as the results of her research and supervision of graduate and undergraduate students.
