Mauricio Martins Rodrigues

Mauricio Martins Rodrigues has dedicated his career to the study of the immune response to pathogens with emphasis on the development of new recombinant vaccines. He is a former Assistant Professor at New York University School of Medicine, current Professor at UNIFESP and Researcher 1A from CNPq.

During his career, Dr. Rodrigues obtained a number of international and national fellowships including awards from the Cancer Research Institute (1992-1994), Pew Latin American Fellows Program (1991-1995), and CNPq (1989-1991, 1996-2014).

Dr. Rodrigues also obtained a number of research grants from Brazilian and International Agencies including The US National Institute of Health (1994-1998, 2014-2018), INSERM (1998-2000), Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (1994-1998, 1999-2003, 2003-2007, 2009-2013, 2014-2018) among others. Twelve years ago, Dr. Rodrigues founded the first Center of Research for Gene Therapy in Brazil.

He was Vice-director of the Instituto do Milênio de Vacinas and currenty is Vice-director of Instituto Nacional de Ciências e Tecnologias em Vacinas (INCTV-CNPq). During the past 20 years in Brazil, Dr. Rodrigues has trained a number of undergraduate and graduate students as well as post-doctoral fellows. He is also currently a Deputy Editor of Plos Neglected Tropical Diseases and Associated Editor of PlosOne.
