ABOUT REGISTRATION PROGRAM LOGISTICS ACCOMODATION
The Global Research Collaboration for Infectious Disease Preparedness (GloPID-R) is a global coalition of research funders that brings together funders investing in research related to new or re-emerging infectious diseases, aimed at increasing preparedness and speeding up the research response to outbreaks with pandemic potential.
The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) is pleased to host the GloPID-R General Assembly this year. The meeting will take place from Tuesday 24 October to Thursday 26 October 2023 in São Paulo, Brazil. This event includes scientific sessions, GloPID-R Governing sessions for members and a site visit to Instituto Butantan.
The topics under discussion this year include Preparedness and Response for Endemic and Emerging Infectious Diseases, the Challenges of Coordinated Funding Mechanisms and Research Prioritisation. A dedicated session will be devoted to highlighting the GloPID-R Funders Living Roadmap for Clinical Trial Coordination.
This event is not open to a general audience, participation is by invitation only.
Getting to Sao Paulo
São Paulo has two primary airports:

Taxis from GRU to the center of São Paulo averages about R$200 (approx. $40USD).

Uber from GRU to the center of São Paulo averages about R$100.

Local Transportation

For those using the metro, the nearest stop to the FAPESP headquarters is the Vila Madalena station – the building is a 10-minute taxi ride. 99 Taxis is a popular app for local taxis.
Another possibility is to take the bus line 917H Terminal Pirituba at the Vila Madalena station. Get off at the 1st stop pn Pio XI Street.

Immunization requirements
Although Brazil does not requires vaccination prior to your visit, your home country may request the immunization certificate. Please verify requirements with your country’s local government.
The center of Sao Paulo, where the meeting is located, is not an endemic region for yellow fever.
Currency
Local currency is Brazilian Real (R$) (plural is ‘Reais’). Credit cards are widely accepted in Sao Paulo, inclusing in most taxis.
Voltage and Plugs
The standard voltage in Brazil is 127 V with a standard frequency of 60 Hz.
The type of plug used in Brazil is a 3-pin type N, which could also accommodate a 2-pin type C plug as well.
It is recommended to bring a universal plug adapter.
